My beading history

I have been designing and creating jewelry for about the past 6 years.  I stumbled upon this jewelry making when I went to the Gem and Mineral Show in Tucson, AZ and I have never looked back.  I thought that the addiction would fade and I would get bored however my love for pearls, semi-precious stones, and sterling silver has only grown.  There is always a new challenge around the corner and it’s always fun to keep up with the new trends while combining them with my own personal style.  At first I would mainly create jewelry and give it to friends and family. However, while I was working at a residential treatment center for adolescents as a therapist, jewelry making became my coping skill after I would get home from a long and draining day at work.  During this time I was getting more requests for jewelry as well as creating so much that I began to sell it in order to support my beading addiction.

The jewelry business began with the name It’s The Little Beads That Count.  This name was important to me because it represents how I feel about life.  Sometimes, it the smallest things that are the most important or the details that really make something wonderful.  Though I love the name, it was long and at times difficult to say to people therefore Sb Collections was created.  Sb stand for Sarah Borden. Borden is my maiden name and the “C” in Collections represents Cornwell, my married last name.

I have also had the wonderful opportunity to work at a great little bead shop in Scottsdale, AZ. It was fun to talk to the customers about their design challenges as well as the materials that they love to use.  I also taught classes at the store on basic beading and wire wrapping.

Sb Collections has introduced me to some wonderful and interesting people as well as to some great places. I look forward to seeing where it takes me in the new few years.
